Andy, our CEO, comes from a third generation furniture retailer and sold furniture while working at Dayton’s in college. His focus wasn’t on selling as much as possible but rather helping customers find the best possible solution to their problem. His desire to listen, learn, and understand the needs and wants of the consumer are the same principles that were used when creating our company.
When it comes to furniture there are so many different styles, features, options and sizes it can be very difficult for a consumer to find something they will love. Our focus from day one has been helping furniture shoppers navigate the vast world of furniture to find their needle in a haystack.
We also believe in creating win-win partnerships with the local furniture retailers who serve those shoppers. We don’t just sell a website, we develop a relationship and work together to help their business better serve their customers.
Our company was founded at the intersection of business and technology
Using business strategy to drive technological innovation and using innovation to drive strategy is not something that had historically worked well together at the time our company was founded. Business people kept to the business side of things and technology people kept to the technology side. With the emergence of computers and internet technology, Andy saw an opportunity to bring the two together and build products and tools that could serve the needs of consumers and retailers.
Our company began at the business and technology intersection when Andy, a business person with a love of technology teamed up with Joe, our president, a technology person with a love of business. Today, our company is full of business people who love technology and technology people who love business.
Our values and company culture are our sense of identity
Our company culture is always evolving but our values have always been the same since our company’s founding. The values Andy and Joe shared when they first began working together are the same values that we have today.
We use our values to create a culture that makes our company a great place to work. A great company culture isn’t Razor scooters and beer (although we do have those things). To us, a great company culture is one where every employee can be successful and love the work they do.
